Selling costs

Enter your actual platform charges. No eBay or Whatnot fee rate is assumed.

Use amounts on the same VAT basis throughout. This tool does not calculate VAT liability, VAT margin schemes or income/corporation tax. If VAT affects you, use your own correctly adjusted figures.

How to estimate joblot profit

Start with the total amount you will pay for the lot, including delivery to you. Estimate how many items will actually sell, then use a realistic average selling price. Deduct platform fees, postage, packaging and any other costs.

What does break-even mean?

It is the average item selling price needed to cover the costs you entered, assuming your expected number of sales and buyer delivery charges. Below that price, the lot would make an estimated loss.

Why allow for unsold stock?

The whole buying cost still needs to be recovered even when some items do not sell. This calculator assigns no resale value to the items you do not expect to sell.

Which selling fees should I enter?

Use the charges that apply to your own account, category and selling platform. Percentage fees here apply to item revenue plus delivery income; fixed fees apply per item sold. Tiered fees, order-level charges, fee caps and refunds may require a separate adjustment.
